"Safe Security, founded by Saket Modi, evolved from ethical hacking roots to become a leading cybersecurity firm using AI-driven risk scoring. Their platform, SAFE, quantifies breach likelihood in real time, aiding in preemptive defense against evolving threat actors. Aligned with India's cybersecurity goals, Safe Security's innovations bridge the gap between technical threats and financial risks, making cybersecurity accessible for CEOs and regulators. Serving over 500 clients, the company not only safeguards enterprises but also contributes to India's digital transformation

The seeds of Safe Security were sown in a high school incident—an ethical dilemma around hacking into an exam file—that foreshadowed Saket Modi’s lifelong engagement with digital security. By 2012, while still an undergraduate, Modi co-founded Lucideus, which rapidly scaled to serve banks, ministries, and telecom players. The tipping point came in 2016, when India faced widespread cyber breaches. Lucideus gained national attention by auditing key government apps, including BHIM, and working with the Reserve Bank of India to plug digital vulnerabilities.

Rebranding for the AI era: SAFE and strategic scale

With the development of SAFE (Security Assessment Framework for Enterprises), the company pivoted from traditional audits to continuous, data-driven cyber risk scoring. In 2021, it rebranded as Safe Security and moved its headquarters to Silicon Valley. SAFE enables enterprises to assess vulnerability across people, processes, technology, and third-party integrations—generating a unified cyber risk score in real time. The platform currently supports more than 500 clients and processes tens of thousands of alerts per day with the aid of machine learning and behavioural analytics.

Rather than reactively addressing breaches, Safe Security focuses on quantification—measuring breach likelihood using AI models. These tools filter noise from millions of daily threat signals, identify anomalous activity, and predict risk pathways. The ability to simulate attack vectors and map digital exposure empowers decision-makers to preempt breaches, rather than scramble after damage is done. This is especially vital as threat actors evolve—ranging from organised crime to state-sponsored cyberterrorism.

Digital India’s unseen defenders

The company’s innovations resonate with India’s broader digital ambitions. Its real-time cyber scoring directly aligns with the proposed National Cyber Security Strategy, which advocates predictive, risk-informed defence. By integrating AI into quantification, Safe Security advances the IndiaAI Mission and supports the Digital Personal Data Protection Act through privacy-aware protocols. Training programmes in collaboration with Indian universities also serve the workforce goals of NEP 2020 and the FutureSkills Prime initiative.

One of Safe Security’s key achievements is demystifying cybersecurity. The SAFE score allows CEOs, boardrooms, and regulators to understand technical threats as financial and reputational risks—something few products achieve. This has significant implications for sectors with critical public functions—banking, mobility, and health—where digital failure cascades into systemic disruption. Through its consumer app, SAFE-Me, the platform also democratises awareness, offering personalised risk dashboards and cyber hygiene training for individuals.

A strategic shield for a digital nation

As India’s digital footprint expands across every domain, Safe Security exemplifies how homegrown, AI-powered platforms can shape global cybersecurity norms. With its roots in ethical hacking and its focus on institutional resilience, the company plays a vital role in the country’s digital transformation journey. In a landscape where cyberattacks are inevitable but avoidable, Safe Security’s real-time intelligence is not just a business solution—it’s a national asset.
