The idea for Mykare Health emerged from personal adversity and professional insight. With over 13 years of experience in healthcare sales, Senu Sam observed persistent gaps in India’s patient experience—particularly a lack of transparency, affordability, and coordination during surgical procedures. His father’s surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic reinforced these issues firsthand. Teaming up with co-founders Rahmathulla T M and Joash Philipose, Senu launched Mykare Health with a mission to simplify and democratize access to high-quality surgical care, especially for patients in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.

A model built around the patient

Mykare Health operates on a unique, patient-first model that supports individuals from consultation through post-operative recovery. After a patient selects their city and surgery type on the platform, a dedicated care team offers pre-surgery counseling, easing the psychological burden that often deters patients—over 70%, according to studies. All hospitals and doctors are rigorously vetted, and Mykare’s partner network includes 250 hospitals across 12 cities, with over 75 doctors and a 60-member team delivering personalized support. This approach not only ensures quality and accountability but also restores trust in the system.

Closing the gap in healthcare delivery

Recognizing the fragmented nature of India’s surgical care ecosystem, especially in smaller hospitals, Mykare Health offers these underutilized facilities visibility and patient flow. The startup tackles operational inefficiencies while creating a smooth, transparent experience for patients. Through partnerships with NBFCs and fintech providers, Mykare facilitates no-interest loans, removing financial barriers. Additionally, the use of artificial intelligence for real-time status updates and automated dashboards enhances transparency, coordination, and trust.

Mykare Health’s mission dovetails with India’s push towards digital and inclusive healthcare. The startup supports the Ayushman Bharat initiative by improving non-emergency surgical access, while its integration of AI and tech platforms complements the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. By strengthening healthcare capacity in Tier 2 cities and empowering smaller hospitals, Mykare contributes to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat—encouraging domestic innovation, equitable service delivery, and local infrastructure development in healthcare.

A blueprint for India’s healthcare transformation

Mykare Health’s model has already served over 5,000 international patients and continues to expand rapidly, with a bed capacity of over 2,000 across its network. As it scales further, the startup presents a replicable blueprint for improving surgical access across India and beyond. By placing patients at the center, leveraging local capacity, and integrating smart technology, Mykare Health exemplifies how startups can lead India’s healthcare transformation from the ground up—making it a true national gamechanger.
