Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) constitute a large proportion of the Indian economy, but since they lack economies of scale, they usually struggle to make profits—especially in the initial years. This means that innovation can be difficult to introduce in any sector unless it originates from within large firms. 

The rising popularity of AI in the past decade may reflect a belief that technology can change this equation. By going AI-native, many MSMEs hope to significantly eliminate operational costs and thus compete with older and larger firms. 

BaseThesis Labs is a startup that aims to help them achieve this transition. Launched in Bengaluru in 2026 by Dhimant Parekh, Sarthak Kapil, and Siddharth Saxena, it has developed software that can support small financial, legal, and programming companies embrace AI throughout their workflows.

What tools does BaseThesis offer?

BaseThesis offers an agentic operating system that is currently powered by four AI tools. These include Synth, for financial service firms; Prime, for legal service firms; and KoeCode and MoltCode, for businesses that focus on coding solutions.

When BaseThesis receives an order from a client, it provides them with the appropriate AI tools, neatly integrating them within the existing digital infrastructure. All software and programs related to the client’s business, from Slack to email to cloud storage, become accessible to the BaseThesis tools, which then act as an underlying intelligence layer for all business operations. 

Whether the client wishes to research Indian compliance laws for their operations or consolidate internal financial records, they can ask the intelligence layer for assistance, reducing the time spent on bureaucratic tasks.

Where have these tools been deployed?

BaseThesis is still in the early stages of commercialization and development, having provided its digital platform and tools to four clients. The startup has not yet sought formal partnerships with other technology providers or government programs, although it does receive credits for hosting its AI services from AWS. In the coming years, it plans to expand to more economic sectors such as manufacturing and e-commerce.

Preliminary findings

One of the startup’s early clients is a financial services company, about 15 years old, consisting of ~100 employees. According to Dhimant Parekh, with the support of BaseThesis, it now uses AI to handle most administrative tasks, leading to time savings of ~70% for these employees. This company also uses AI to refine the consulting services that it provides, indirectly creating value for roughly 200 clients. With several manual workflows optimized, it is able to focus more on client acquisition and other operations that require direct human engagement. 

Using tech to bridge economic gaps

BaseThesis operates on the hypothesis that artificial intelligence can help automate both manual and analytical tasks, thus helping small businesses compete with larger ones. In the coming years, as AI models and job markets evolve, this hypothesis will be further tested. Should more positive results emerge, policymakers may opt for public–private collaborations, regulating such technology and preparing the economy for an upsurge of MSMEs.
